Supporters rally for Michael at a "house party" in the Glen Echo Heights neighborhood
Meet Michael Sriqui
Dear Neighbors,
I’m very excited about this opportunity to represent a truly special place in the State House. Almost my entire life has been centered in these neighborhoods… you’re looking at one of the beneficiaries of growing up in our remarkable public schools, with the many cultures one can discover on a single block, and in our clean and safe parks and playgrounds.
My parents and their neighbors worked hard, hand in hand with responsible and diligent leaders to make this community what it’s become. When ordinary citizens become disconnected with their government, however, what’s in the public interest too often takes a back seat to special interests, whose narrow view doesn’t stretch much further than their own bottom lines. As Vice President of Common Cause Maryland, I’ve been an advocate for campaign finance reform and government that’s open and more accountable for over a decade. With your help, I can bring this spirit of reform to Annapolis and get to work making it happen.
We have a number of challenges before us: keeping our schools the best in the nation, creating new jobs, growing without endangering our valuable green space, and making tough spending priorities that are responsible and reflective of our values. These tasks are only made harder when a wall of special interest money keeps people away from their representatives. In a tough economy, we simply must not allow special interest power to direct the flow of our precious tax dollars. My campaign is dedicated to making you the driving force of legislation in Maryland. Please join with me, and thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
